Imagine, you’ve been browsing FunkyEyes.com for over an hour and you finally find the pair of colored contacts to completely bring your look together. However, on the last step of the checkout process you read “This section is required if you reside within the U.S.” so you start freaking a little as confusion starts to build.
The following text reads, “Select ‘Search Prescriber’ for a doctor near your area who can fulfill your prescription, or add the doctor of your preference by selecting ‘Add Prescriber’.”
Now you’re past confused and a little irritated because all you want to do is order a pair of contacts for a costume party this weekend and don’t need a prescription. Why is this process so difficult and why do I need a prescription when I’m not correcting my vision?!
The misunderstanding lies in the word ‘prescription’.
A prescription simply authorizes a medical product to be released to a customer and does not actually correlate with the strength or instructions of a medical drug, service, or product. Contact lenses that correct a user’s vision, including decorative, cosmetic, or other Plano lenses require a valid contact lens prescription to meet FDA regulations. So whether you’re looking for corrective lenses to improve your vision or cosmetic lenses to enhance your appearance, you need a prescription for those shipping to within the United States.
So, when you reach the prescriber information section on the checkout page, here’s what you do …
First, enter your billing and shipping details and try searching for your Optician based on that information. Make sure you type everything out completely and don’t use any abbreviations. For instance, if you live in St. Petersburg, type your city as “Saint Petersburg”.
Still can’t find your doctor by entering your location? Select the ‘Add Prescriber’ option from the dropdown menu and simply type your eye doctor’s information manually. You will be asked to enter your doctor’s name, phone number, city, state and zip code. If you don’t know this info, Google can probably point you in the right direction!
Once you’ve either selected your doctor or manually entered your doctor’s information, proceed to enter your billing information and you’re all done with placing your order, meaning there’s nothing more needed on your part!
From here, the Rx Verification system will automatically call your doctor to verify your prescription. It takes eight business hours for a customer’s prescription to be verified by the eye care provider and correlates with the time zone of that doctor. Once the customer’s prescription has gone through the Rx Verification system, Funky Eyes can then fulfill the order for shipping.
This may seem like a tedious process, but it’s a step to ensure the products you place in your eyes are safe to wear and won’t cause any damage! Besides, after you’ve made it through this process once, ordering will be a breeze in the future!
If all else fails, contact our Headquarters and our helpful customer service team will either walk you through the process, or place your order over the phone!
